La Cicer, Gran Canaria (Saturday, May 19, 2012) – Consistent 2-3Ft surf is on offer this morning at Playa de La Cicer in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. With light onshore winds and sunny skies this morning, conditions stay similar for the last day of the ASP 3-Star Gran Canaria Santa Pro Junior. Miguel Tavio, co-organizer of the event is looking forward to a great finish again this year.
“The last few days were pretty fun” Miguel said. “Yesterday was really good the waves looked fun, a few close outs but some good ones thrown in the mix and we saw great surfing yesterday ! Today it’s getting cleaner with a little less wind and I’m sure we’ll have a excellent final day to this contest !”
The last 16 surfers who qualified through the earlier rounds of competition will battle it out today for a piece of the US$15,000 prizemoney and important ranking points on offer. With the best of what Europe has to offer in the under-21 category, the entertainment should be of quality this morning at La Cicer, and all the major sponsors of the event will be there later on today to congratulate the winner.
“When the event is over we’ll have a presentation of the event’s finalists right on the site so I invite everyone to come check it out ! We’ll also have political representatives from the Government of Gran Canaria and other instances coming to present the surfers with their prizes.
