TAPIA PRO JUNIOR July 23-25 2004

Friday, July 23rd
Day 2 : Last rounds held in 2-3 ft waves for an early finish.

The contest started at 11.30 am in small but clean conditions, under a cloudy sky.

As the swell was dropping, the officials decided the Pro Junior would finish today . Because of the high tide, the judges moved to another point of view for the first couple of heats. The first surfers in the water had to stick to the lefthander which was breaking to the left of the podium; it looked difficult as only short shutting-down sections were on offer this morning .

Aritz Aramburu (EUK), actual leader of the European pro junior tour, got the good waves and went through the round followed by Jason Salisbury (AUS), stopping the two French surfers Adrien Valero and Joan Duru in this event. As the tide was going out, the lefthander grew a little allowing the contestants to show a more radical style.
Vincent Duvignac (FRA) managed to get an 8.33 pointer and won his heat qualifying for the quarterfinals.

With the finals coming-up this afternoon, you will get all the action from this Pro Junior event on our website, so stay tuned and log on tonight for the results. Thanks for reading!
