PRESS RELEASES
ISLAND STYLE PRO JUNIOR - ASP 1* JUNIOR
July 22 to 24 - Prizemoney 5 000 $- Tapia de Casariego , Asturias – Spain

Saturday, July 23rd
After the 10 am check in was delayed because of the lack of waves in the bay of Tapia, the next 64 surfers of this Tapia Island Style Pro Junior were called back at 11 am to get on with the show at the nearby beach of Penaronda, in order to enjoy the best sandbanks of the day. After a rapid but efficient move, the organisers and sponsors were ready to start the show at 11.15 am, as 2 ft waves were breaking regularly for the junior professionnals.
Last year's semifinalist Michel Bourez (Pyf) ripped the little walls of the beautiful beach surrounded by cliffs, making the righthander look like a really consistent break The second qualifier of the day was Hugues Oyarzabal (Fra), who managed to improve his style in those little but clean conditions. From low to high tide, all the surfers enjoyed the day as the waves were offering nice sections, but a few surfers just flew over their opponents to rock the spanish break. Getting a total of 17.27 pts , Joan Duru (Fra) who ranked 3 rd in the ISA World Junior Chamionships this year, confirmed all his talent with perfect style and technique. The other impressive man of the day was Abdel El harim (Mar), who left his opponents needing a combination to get first place of his heat and reach next round.
Inspite we had to move to another beach five minutes away from the main podium site, we've had a beatiful day in “Playa de Penaronda”. From 2 year old kids to 30+ year old surfers, it was really nice to see how surfing can bring together several generations of surfers and offer a unique atmosphere on such a beautiful site. Off course we had to work without the live webcast and other modern technologies, but you can be sure every single person of this Island Style Tapia Pro Junior Event enjoyed a day back to the roots, with peace, friendship and sportslike spirit. That's what surfing is: people enjoying a same passion, a same lifestyle, respecting their environment. Thanks for reading, next call tomorrow at 9 am.

ISLAND STYLE TAPIA PRO JUNIOR - ASP 1* JUNIOR
July 22 to 24
Sunday, July 17 th
Island Style Proudly presents the Island Style Tapia Pro Junior 22-24 July 2005 .
Island Style steps in at the last moment to save the ASP Pro Junior event in Tapia. When we heard we were about to lose one of Europes key pro junior events we decided at the last minute to step up and sign a 3 year deal so we could keep this amazing contest alive.
We are 100% behind our team members, some of Europes top juniors such as Gony Zubizarreta, Aritz Aranburu,Luis Rodriguez and Marlon Lipke and did not want them to lose such an important event, so we in line with our marketing policy of supporting Junior Surfing in Europe have decided to keep true to our roots and go for it, even though it is a last minute rescue act.
The small coastal fishing village of Tapia de Casariego in Asturias Spain, is getting ready for the summer invasion of young hungry junior surfers who are on the hunt for ratings points and top level experience. With the cancellation of some of the key pro junior events this year Tapia has become one of the most important junior events on this years pro junior tour and we can expect all of europes top juniors to compete in the event.
The current leader of the ratings "Island Style" team member Aritz Aranburu, hot off a win last week in Portugal has confirmed his entry and only a few hours after the event ends on Sunday will dash off to the USA to compete in the 6 star WQS in Huntington beach.
The weather and swell predictions are looking very good and we are sure to see some red hot surfing action, for more info log onto www.aspeurope.com , www.surfersvillage.com , www.islandstyle.co.za
