Adriano de Souza on Pukas Surfboards

Adriano de Souza wants to take the world title from Kelly Slater.  Many people have already taken it for granted but very few people know that he will be doing it on his new and carefully chosen Pukas quiver.  Adriano wants the world title and he’s going to fight for it on Pukas boards. 

It all began in the summer of 2005 when he arrived from Brazil. Adriano surfed on a Pukas surfboard shaped by Peter Daniels. After his first surf, Adriano fell in love with his Peter Daniels surfboard.  Love at first sight.  He decided to buy another one with which he won the first Super Series (the most important contest in the “second division” WQS) in the history of the ASP in Hossegor.  He claimed that his boards were “magic”. 

In 2005 Adriano de Souza won the WQS title, at 18 years of age, giving him access to the first division (the top 44 in the world).  His victory was exceptional also due to the fact that his point score was the highest ever obtained in the WQS. 

The 2006 season has started and Adriano de Souza is after Kelly’s title.  The first WCT contest, held at Snapper Rocks in Australia, will be on his new Pukas quiver.  Many critics have already given the title to Adriano, but it will not be an easy road.
